ADVENTURE ISLES · VANISHING FOREST

Subtraction games for kids

Follow disappearing clues and work out what remains. Vanishing Forest turns taking away numbers into an adventure through five sections.

What children practise

Subtraction asks how many are left after some are taken away. The first forest section uses answers from zero to ten. Later sections introduce larger numbers and answers up to one hundred. The fifth section mixes the earlier difficulty levels.

A child can count backwards, use objects, or think about the related addition fact to find an answer.

Try a subtraction question

9 − 4 = ?

Start at nine and count back four steps: eight, seven, six, five. The answer is 5.

17 − 5 = ?

Taking five away from seventeen leaves 12. Check by adding: 12 + 5 = 17.

Play Vanishing Forest

Open Numbervale and choose Vanishing Forest in Adventure Isles. Its first section is unlocked from the start. Correct answers attack the monster; a wrong answer lets the monster attack, then the child can try that question again. Winning unlocks the next section and draws a matching animal card.
